Week 15 of Hypertransitory Monday Comics is here, featuring part 2 of my Fantasy and Sci-Fi themed comic The Ever Zone!
THE EVER ZONE pt 2
Click here if you missed last week’s Monday Comics debut of The Ever Zone – then get back here for part 2!
Time and space have existed for eons without too much trouble…until now. Some unknown force has torn a hole in the fabric of space-time. Inside is an apparently endless zone that can and does connect everywhere with everywhere.

JG Creator Notes
Well this might be the loooooongest comic yet! Even longer than previous Monday Comic ‘The Commander Series’ pt 3!
Initially this one was actually 3 pages long, but I decided to combine it into one long page as that seems to be more convenient for everyone. I decided to stop worrying about the wildly disparate sizes/formats of these comics. As long as it doesn’t get in the way of people enjoying them then so be it. Whoot, there it is.
So last week in the story we had Flinn and Jaiya -two good characters wandering the Zone.
Now we have Vizron and VeraNyne, two evil characters obviously up to no good. You can say whatever you want about them, just don’t insult their masters!
I actually did a character design piece over a year ago on my process of creating Vizron. Those of you interested in some “technical art” stuff should head over there and check that out.
Here’s an image from that post – there’s more to be seen over there.
PENCIL ACTION
Finally, here’s the raw pencil from this episode. As I mentioned above, I originally did this in 3 pages, so there’s 3 images. I didn’t see any need to combine them, but once again you can take a look and get a sense of the process (ie how much is drawn and how much is photoshop).
Enjoy and let me know what you guys think in the comments!
amazing work!
Thanks much, Olivia!
Hey John,
I’ve got a question for you. Where do you come up with this stuff? How do you come up with the characters, what they’ll look like, what happens between them, everything! You must have one huge imagination my friend. I so admire you for your talent. Not only can you draw but you come up with so many different stories. I’m definitely impressed.
Hi Adrienne!
Well, I think it comes from so much reading. Comic books pretty much taught me how to read, so I was always thinking “what if X had happened instead of Y?”
And then when I’m drawing a character, I have to imagine why the character is in the pose/scene/situation they’re in.
It just kind of branched out from there to making my own stories up. Trust me I have a million of ’em that haven’t seen the light of day yet :)
Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot coming from you!
LOL, who will destroy who in the end, we will see….in the meanwhile, lets see what will happen with the lady from the last comic.
Amazing draws! :)
Hi Eleonora, It could be a toss-up who destroys who. Don’t worry we’ll get back to Jaiya from the first episode next week!
The drawing reminds me a little of akuma from streetfighter
Well I’ll take that as a compliment! Event hough I always played more Tekken than Streetfighter :)
Though kind of creepy, this “girl” has such an original look. xD
Thanks Allen, that’s just the reaction I wanted!
Cool! I wonder what her eyes look like without the red sunglasses.
I suspect she will look something like the security guy from the 1980’s Flash Gordon movie. Remember when Prince Baron ripped off his sunglasses and they all collapsed? Good times…
beautiful work as always! The blending of genres gives your art an even greater chance to shine.
Hey Neil, thanks for dropping in, my friend.
I appreciate the compliment, and there’s much more to come!
I must say that your pencil art is exceptionally good. May be besides doing comic books you should try to get into the animated cartoons
Thanks, Randall! I’d love to see some of this animated some day, but I don’t know if I’d want to be the one doing it lol
JG,
That is one truly scary ass looking Orc / Picollo monk.
Good stuff, keep it coming!
Thanks Ryan! That guy is scary looking isn’t he? Luckily it looks like he’s getting the heck out of there…
Her sunglasses are rad. :) I need a pair. Loving these pencil sketches!
Hi Annie,
let me know if you pick up any like that I’d love to see a photo lol!
The “girl” character is really impressive. For me, she is one of the most unique you’ve done so far. Great story too.
– Dylan
Hi Dylan, thanks for reading and thanks for the compliment, I had fun creating her, too.
John!!!
You Da Man!
Some publishing company needs to advance you a couple a bucks so you can spend all your waking hours creating this Epic Stuff ;)
Or the SyFy channel should, I don’t know…DO something to keep this going.
I’m beginning to appreciate the passion of the artsy-fartsy for their Cezannes. LOL
Great story!
Cheers,
Mitch
Yeah I took this up with a couple of syndicates and publishers and for some strange reason they declined. Imagine that!
I also suggested that SyFy should stop running those terrible movies and put up a couple of jpegs of my cartoons for an hour. No response. I guess they just don’t want the ratings lol…
Hi JG!
Nice work. You keep the standards =)) How many parts of this comic are there going to be?
Hi Eugene, thanks man!
I might have to go for five or six parts on this one. Normally I’d try to keep these things to a month, but there might be more story than that here. I’m glad you enjoy it!
No, I’ll destroy you! No you won’t, I’ll destroy you! Kids! lol
Strange, almost like a lover’s quarrel, or a couple of born-again Christians from different sects discussing why their version of God is more legitimate. I see bloody stuff coming; I hope there’s explosions.
Hey Mitch,
that whole thing kind of evolved as I was drawing up the panels, lol. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but your description is really apt.
I think we can expect at least one explosion coming up, my friend!
Hello JG!
This is my first time to your site, and I have to admit that your work is awesome! Amazing graphics JG! Good job JG; keep up the good work.
Thanks, Nick! I really glad you came by and that you enjoyed the site. thanks for commenting!
I am sure that my daughter who is a fashion designer with a passion for comic characters would enjoy seeing your work.
Hi Carmelita, thanks, I really appreciate you showing this to your daughter :)
Great artwork man, I wish my pencilwork was so good. Your artistic skill is matched well by your great storytelling ability. Can’t wait for the next installment!
Hey Paul, thanks for reading and thanks for the compliment. I’m glad people are digging the raw pencil art!
I’m one avid collector of comic books. I do usually read it during free time. It is quite impressive on how they do make a story with illustrations that makes the story livelier to read.
Haha, brilliant comic, I’ve loved the first 2, time for the 3rd :). Your drawings are really good by the way. I like drawing comics too, I’m nowhere near as good though.
May be besides doing comic books you should try to get into the animated cartoons..almost like a lover’s quarrel, or a couple of born-again Christians from different sects discussing why their version of God is more legitimate. I see bloody stuff coming; I hope there’s explosions.
I wish I could draw like you! All I can do is sit on the floor and maybe come up with a rough storyboard. I can never get past that, since I try to excuse myself with drafting more plots and variations.
Wow! I love your work… It has been my childhood dream to draw or illustrate cartoon characters but I really have no talent with this. Congratulations JG!
I hate drawing since I was young. I’ve been searching on how to draw but I can’t do it with myself alone. With that sense, I have no any talent of drawing.
Hi Darlene, it can be frustrating when the drawings don’t come out how you planned. It even happens to me, so I know what you mean.
If you keep doing it you will definitely develop a style all your own. Keep it up you never know what could happen! Thanks for commenting :)
I was kind of on the edge of my seat with this one! Cause of the fighting and stuff, I mean. But then I had to laugh out loud with the last panel. “I will destroy you!” “No, I will destroy you!” Haha. Love it!
Hi Karen, yes these two can only seem to get along for so long without an outburst or something lol
Comic books are great. No matter how old I get I never seem to get bored of reading them!!
Your drawings are SICK! So is the story line. Takes a talent to be able to do both for sure! Keep it up JG. Maybe you could make a movie someday?
