I had the pleasure of hanging out with some real movers and shakers in the Joomla community this weekend -the guys from the Milwaukee Joomla Users Group and none other than Brian Teeman, co-founder of Joomla(!).
We kicked it over drinks for a couple ofhours and I got to hear some of the stories and adventures Brian has had over the years. Rock Star stuff, people!
The main thing I got out of this was that I’m really ready to dive back into Joomla and tackle another project.
Previously, I kind of lost interest because it’s just so easy for me to make site in Joomla. That’s why I started this one up in WordPress, just to have a little challenge.
I was planning on moving on to Drupal, but now I don’t think I will. The excitement in Joomla is back for me.
Truly, getting out there and meeting people face to face is what does it. Sometimes we’re all so wrapped up in our online worlds that we forget there are actual people behind those avatars.
Anyway, those of you out there in the blogging world, whatever your platform, start looking around for any meeting near you and get out there to shake some hands and make yourself known.
There’s another Joomla night out in a couple of weeks with Yannick Gaultier of SH404SEF fame, so I’ll definitely be in the house for that one.
Onward and upward, fortune and glory…
It was really great to meet you and your wife at the meetup. It’s always fun to find new people who haven’t heard my stories.
Yo Brian! Actually I was the other (unmarried) guy, LOL. But yeah it was a very good time and I hope you get back here so I can hear some more stories. PEACE!!
Hi JG. I just happened to read your post here. Yeah, Joomla is a nice one. I still also, a bit confused which one I should be holding on to, Joomla, or WordPress.
