X-MEN-Legacy-216-SMALL.jpg

Anyway we can see from last time that after Xavier successfully stopped Mr. Sinister from using Xavier's own body to resurrect himself, he went to warn Scott Summers about the whole affair.

Of course, ass-hat that he is, Cyclops set a trap for Xavier, using his bimbo girlfriend Emma Frost to turn the tables on Xavier, supposedly because they had to be sure Sinister didn't lave any hooks into Charles. Yeah right.

At the end of that issue, I said to myself, and in my last review, that if Xavier didn't just bust out of Emma's mind-fuck that I was calling foul on the whole thing.

Well, he didn't and that's why this issue represents the first serious misstep that writer Mike Carey has made since he started writing X-Men.

There's no way in hell that someone who can take down Exodus (EXODUS!), ca be trapped by Emma Frost. It just doesn't fly in any way shape or form.

Sure, Carey tries to build in some reasoning for Emma being able to telepathically manhandle Xavier - specifically that she slowly wormed her way into his mind and put him into her mindscape - but that's frankly a crock of shit.

If she thought of that, wouldn't he have thought of that? Xavier outclasses Emma in pretty much every conceivable way, power and intelligence, and I don't think this issue should have happened this way at all.

So let's go back to their original premise, that they want to make sure he has no traces of Sinister in him. She doesn't even do that. Instead, she starts dredging up his past and forcing him to relive all the fucked up things he's done in the past. Many of which were really not all that bad and downright justified!

Emma and Cyclops (I put Emma first since we know who's really in charge here) have no right to judge this guy, and yet they just go on essentially picking on him for pages and pages. It was kind of sickening.

But even more than the in-story crap, in real life, haven't we had enough of this? Isn't it about time to let this character move on? Isn't that what the whole Legacy thing was about anyway? Seriously, this goes on and on and on...

In the third issue, I thought we really turned a corner. Xavier defeated Exodus and he told Karima and Magneto that the person he was didn't exist anymore, and that he didn't feel all the guilt. Why is it there now? It's all crap.

Why is it that no one can ever win against this half-naked bitch?? Rachel Grey couldn't win, even though she's more powerful than Xavier. Chris Claremont (writer at the time) tried to explain it by saying that Emma was just more sophisticated in the use of her power than Rachel.

Well, Xavier is both more powerful and more skilled in the use of his powers, why is he defeated so easily? Aargh. COME ON, Carey. Wrap this shit up already.

Truly the most sickening part of all is that Xavier acts like they did him a favor at the end and goes to shake Cyclops' hand. What?? This guy just had his slutty girlfriend assault you?? And then Cyclops the douchebag looks like he still doesn't want to do it. What a joke. This comic was a total joke.

Marvel and the X-Editors need to decide what to do with this character already and that does NOT mean kill him. The guy is not a punching bag for disgruntled mutants. I'm pretty disgusted by this issue and of "looking for atonement" Xavier in general.

They had really better shape this up in the next few months or I'll be entering into a new X-Men free era very soon. Ugh...

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but I think the whole Batman line of comics is in need of serious help.

This is an ink drawing I did a couple of months ago. I actually started it out in pencil as always, but for some reason I must have thrown away the pencil scan I made.

This is a not too detailed write up of how I made the cover to my sister's novel, The Cupid Factor, which is available now.

This is a vector drawing I made in Adobe Illustrator to commemorate what was once a great comic, "New X-Men: Academy X".

There was a lot of luck in the universe. A near infinite amount for a near infinite cosmos. Fortunately or unfortunately, it didn't always get distributed evenly.
