After learning of the Skrull's Invasion of Earth, Nova headed home to lend a hand, accompanied by the original Super-Skrull. Once there, Super-Skrull pulls off a quick bit of treachery against Nova, which results in Nova getting a chance to slip by the entire Skrull armada.
Initially looking for his family, Nova tracks down his brother Robbie, who's working at Project P.e.g.a.s.u.s. Instead he finds his old teammate Darkhawk, now head of security at Project P.e.g.a.s.u.s., and the two fight under the old "you're a Skrull" routine.
Luckily, this doesn't last long, and Nova's brother pops up to fill him in on what happened at the Project.
It turns out that they have some advanced weaponry there that the Skrulls want. To keep it from them, they sealed it off, and now even Project staff can't get to it. However, there's one weapon that they can get to, which was in the process of being tested when the Skrulls hit.
It turns out that they need a very advanced computer to run the thing, and Nova used to have a very advanced computer in his head, the Worldmind of Xandar.
Previously, Nova had essentially burned out the Worldmind, and he thought it was gone for good, but the Project P.e.g.a.s.u.s. scientists think they can get it back online.
This was the only false note I've seen in Nova for a while. I doubt the scientists at Project P.e.g.a.s.u.s. could ever figure out something as complicated as the Worldmind of Xandar, but whatever. We need to move this thing along somehow.
So essentially they take a stab at it, and it ends up not only reviving the Worldmind, but also somehow bringing back and old comrade who fell in battle during the original Annihilation mini-series. Coincidentally, this guy also used to be head of security at Project P.e.g.a.s.u.s. years ago. Hmm....
I have no idea how the hell that played out, but as usual, I can't wait for the next issue. Between this and to a lesser extent, Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel has really got the sci-fi adventure comic niche locked up.
I decided to come up with a design for a t-shirt to show my support for Barack Obama in the upcoming '08 election. The address to the online store is www.moobamastuff.com.
