As usual, most of my art starts off with a pencil and paper. I do use a photograph for reference, but I don't trace or use a pencil filter in Photoshop.
Once I draw the picture (usually starting with blue pencil, then working my way up from the 6H strength all the way to the 7B leads), I then scan that in and color it in Photoshop. I'll also add in design elements as I see fit.
The flag was created in vector format in Adobe Illustrator, then I brought that into Photoshop to "dirty" it up some, using noise and adding in the stitching.
Obama's logo is partially seen in the top left of the piece. As I don't own their logo I didn't want to use the whole thing but I did want the suggestion of it close to his face. Hopefully since it's not all showing they won't have a problem with that.
The text I added in using Photoshop and adjusting the levels of transparency to lighten it up a bit. It took longer than I thought it was going to, especially since my computer was acting crazy as usual.
Anyway, if interested, please feel free to check out the items that this design appears on here: www.moobamastuff.com.
I decided to come up with a design for a t-shirt to show my support for Barack Obama in the upcoming '08 election. The address to the online store isĀ www.moobamastuff.com.
